MANGO MANGO MANGO SHAKE!

It's time to shake things up! (literally) For this foodventure segment, we will show you how to make a mango shake without using a blender! Yes! Without a blender! How? Read on further to know --->

Prepare the ingredients needed: mango tidbits, crushed ice, evaporated milk, brown sugar, tall glass, straws

Mix the mango tidbits and crushed ice in a big bowl so that it can stirred easily.

We don't have a blender so we just used a baking mixer to mix them all up. So it looks like this. But my advice to you is first mix the mango tidbits so that it will not have huge chunks.

By continuously using the mixer, add in the evaporated milk slowly to have a creamy taste.

Then 4-5 teaspoons of brown or white sugar to taste. Then continue to mix until there are no chunks left.

Tadaaaa!!! You now have your homemade mango smoothie! YUM!

GOING BANANAS!!!

Another easy way to beat the heat is to make a homemade refreshing cool treat!

In this fooventure post, you can combine any of your favorite fruit with crushed ice. It's easy as 1-2-3! So try this at your home for an easy sweet treat!

STEP 1: Unpeel the Saba or Cardava banana and put it in a deep pot.  Add in water just the same level as the bananas. Simply just submerge them in water.

STEP 2: Add in 8 teaspoons of brown sugar and set the fire in medium heat.

STEP 3: Leave it for about 15-20mins but make sure to check it from time to time because the sugar might get burned.

STEP 4: Get a clear glass (any height of your choice will do, depending on your prefer taste). Then assemble it starting by putting the sweetened banana at the bottom.

STEP 5: Then put crushed ice on top of the sweetened bananas depending on how much amount of ice you want to put.

STEP 6: Pour in some evaporated milk. (But not too much because it will overpower the caramelized taste of the sweetened banana)

STEP 7: Mix it all together do that the crushed ice will incorporate the taste of the sweetened bananas and the evaporated milk.

Sit back and ENJOY your refreshing treat in a hot summer day!

ISKRAMBOL

ISKRAMBOL

SA

LOOBAN!

This is by far the simplest refreshing dessert in our summer foodventure. And again, it is another D-I-Y treat!

WHY IS IT CALLED SCRAMBLE?
Because they are mixed altogether like Halo-Halo but only simpler and much easy to make.

It is simply just flavored crushed ice; you get to pick any flavor syrup you want and viola! You have the famous iskrambol! Yum!

In the picture, it is chocolate flavored that's why its brownish but traditionally it's color pink. We don't know why is it traditionally colored pink but ever since our parents are still young, it has been like that.

The toppings can be anything you like, anything you can think of that is sweet and tasty to your mouth. It is usually topped with powdered milk, chocolate bites, fruit loops, corn flakes, choco nips or any sweet candies. Yum!

EVERYBODY'S LOCO FOR BUKO!

Some say its a giant nut but for us Filipinos its the tree of life.

DID YOU KNOW? Every part of the Coconut tree is being used and not put to waste because first, the leaves and the trunk is used for building small nipa huts and also for basket making. Second and most special is its fruit called buko. When it is dried, its coconut tusk can be used as a cleaning material of the floor in the house; its extract is traditionally made into a liquor called lambanog; another use of it is for virgin coconut oil that is world known and also its coconut fibers are in demand in the world.

Buko is one of the biggest exported product of Philippines because of its juice inside and its white substance called Kernel. As you can see in the picture, the buko juice and the Kernel is mixed in all together with water and sugar for additional taste.
If you had a tiring day and need for an instant refreshment, you can find it anywhere around the town proper in the Philippines for just a cheap price for only P5 to P10.
But if you want to buy the whole fruit, you can for just a low price.

DID YOU KNOW? It is a tradition in the Philippines that when you are suffering from Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), buko juice is only the solution to your sickness. Why? because once you drink it, your digestive and urinary system is replenished thus cleaning your kidneys.
